Legal
Privacy Policy.
This policy explains what information AI Video Summarizer processes, why it is needed, where it goes, and the choices available to you.
1. Scope and operator
This Privacy Policy applies to the AI Video Summarizer website and service at aivideosummarizer.ai. AI Video Summarizer operates the service and acts as the controller of the information described here. We currently provide the core experience without user accounts.
Questions or privacy requests may be sent to hello@aivideosummarizer.ai.
2. Information we process
Information you submit
- Public YouTube URLs that you choose to process.
- Available transcript text and timestamps retrieved for the selected video.
- Questions you submit through Ask Video and the answers generated from transcript evidence.
- Information you include when you contact us by email.
Technical and usage information
- IP addresses used by Cloudflare and our rate limiter to deliver, secure, and protect the service.
- Basic request, error, security, and performance information processed by our hosting provider.
- Privacy-bounded product events, such as a URL submission, successful transcript, timestamp click, or export.
- A random identifier scoped to the current browser session, event outcome, cache status, and request duration.
- Provider operation, outcome, duration, Supadata billable credits, and DeepSeek account-availability metrics.
Our product and Provider monitoring datasets do not contain video URLs, transcript text, question text, answers, user account data, or IP addresses. We do not create advertising profiles from these events.
Information stored only in your browser
Notes are saved in your browser's local storage for the relevant video. Up to five recently processed YouTube URLs, their video identifiers, and the time they were last opened are also kept locally so you can reopen them. A small local value records whether the browser has visited before, and a random session identifier is kept in session storage for aggregate product analytics. You can remove this information by clearing site data in your browser. Notes and recent-video history are not uploaded to our servers by the current service.
3. Why we process information
- To validate a supported video URL and provide the requested transcript.
- To generate structured summaries, chapters, grounded answers, and timestamp citations.
- To cache recent results, improve response time, and avoid unnecessary provider requests.
- To enforce request limits, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and keep the service secure.
- To understand aggregate product performance and improve the user experience.
- To respond when you contact us and comply with legal obligations.
Where applicable, we rely on performing the service you request, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where the law specifically requires it.
4. Service providers and data transfers
We use the following providers to operate the service:
- Cloudflare for hosting, content delivery, security, rate limiting, edge caching, logs, and aggregate analytics.
- Supadata to request an available native transcript for the public video URL you submit.
- DeepSeek to generate summaries and answers from transcript content and your question.
- YouTube's privacy-enhanced embedded player, served from youtube-nocookie.com, when you open a processed video result.
These providers may process information in countries other than your own. In particular, DeepSeek states that its services may process and store information in the People's Republic of China. By asking us to process a video, you direct us to use these providers as necessary to deliver the requested result. Each provider processes information under its own terms, privacy policy, and applicable data protection obligations.
5. Retention
- Transcripts, generated summaries, and Ask Video answers may be cached on Cloudflare for up to 24 hours.
- Privacy-bounded product and Provider monitoring events in Cloudflare Analytics Engine are retained for three months.
- Browser notes and recent-video history remain on your device until you delete them or clear site storage.
- Security, network, and provider records may be retained by the relevant provider under its own policy.
- Email correspondence is retained only as reasonably needed to respond, maintain records, or meet legal obligations.
6. Sharing and sale
We share information only with providers needed to operate the service, when you direct us to, when required by law, or when necessary to protect users, the service, or legal rights. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, or receive a portable copy of personal information. You may also have the right to complain to a local data protection authority. Contact us to exercise a right. We may need enough information to verify your request, but the absence of user accounts and the use of random session identifiers may limit our ability to associate stored events with a person.
You can avoid AI processing by not submitting a video, remove Notes by clearing them in the workspace or browser storage, and stop analytics session storage by blocking site storage in your browser. Blocking storage does not prevent the core video workflow from operating.
8. Security and sensitive information
We use HTTPS, server-side provider credentials, bounded request bodies, rate limiting, and hashed cache keys. No Internet service can guarantee absolute security. Do not submit private, confidential, regulated, or sensitive personal information in a video URL, transcript, question, note, or email.
9. Children
The service is not directed to children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the service, contact us so we can evaluate and, where appropriate, delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the service, providers, or legal requirements change. The date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes will be presented as required by law.
